Toronto - A Place to
Call Home!
Situated right next to
Lake Ontario stands North
America’s 5th largest city
(by population), and
currently the 46th largest
city on earth. The city of
Toronto boasts a population
of approximately 2.5 million
people, but the surrounding
area (Greater Toronto Area)
boasts an impressive 7
million residents.
Toronto is widely
recognized as the economic
powerhouse and financial hub
of Canada. Although Toronto
is the capital of Ontario,
it is not the capital of
Canada. Other industries
which call Toronto their
home include the media,
medical research, aerospace,
software, transportation,
telecommunication, and now
the
Toronto web design
industry.
Toronto can be described
as a sort of “cultural
melting pot”, as it is often
the destination for
immigrants from other
countries looking to make a
start in Canada. And for
good reason: With high
populations of Asian and
South Asian ethnicities,
many immigrants feel right
at home as pockets of
Toronto exude their
indigenous culture.
Although the city is
often listed as one of the
most expensive cities in the
world to make a living,
Torontonians do enjoy a
higher standard of living,
with a relatively low crime
rate.
